THE TWENTY SECOND MARINES

ASSOCIATION, INC.

BY-LAWS

2 October 1997

ARTICLE I. NAME: As incorporated by the State of Ohio, the name of this organization is The Twenty Second Marines Association, Inc.

ARTICLE II. PURPOSE: The purposes of this corporation are as follows:

A. To promote and safeguard patriotism and love of country.

B. To promote the ideals of American democracy and freedom.

C. To preserve the traditions and spirit of the United States Marine Corps.

D. To perpetuate the memories of the 22d Marines Association.

E. To cultivate fellowship among the members of the Association.

F. To hold sacred the memories of the men who gave their lives for our nation.

ARTICLE III. POLICY:

A. The Corporation shall never take part in any labor or management dispute or issue, and it shall ever be non-sectarian, non-political and non-partisan; nor shall it be used as a medium of political ambition or preferment. Preferment by reason of former military rank, or by reason of former or present civilian position shall not be countenanced.

B. No part of the net earnings of the association shall inure to the benefit of any individual. The association shall, however, be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in ftirtherance of its purposes.

ARTICLE IV. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY:

A. Regular Members:

Any honorably discharged Marine or Navy personnel, who was a member the 22d Marines during World War II is eligible to be accepted in this organization as a regular member.

B. Associate Members:

The 22nd Marines Association will accept Associate Members. Legal dependents or guardians of those persons living or deceased who are or were eligible for regular membership under Article IV A are eligible for Associate Membership. Any CB, or any Marine who served in an organization which supported the 22d Marines, such as the VAC Reconnaissance Unit at Eniwetok, and the 2d Battalion, 15th Marines at Okinawa, is eligible for Associate Membership. Associate members will have a voice at the meetings which are held during the yearly reunions and may run for the position of Trustee only. Associate members are not
authorized to run for the office of Sergeant-at-Arms or above, unless by vote of two-thirds of the Association.

C. Honorary Members:

Widows and Gold Star parents of those persons who, if alive, would have been eligible for regular membership and others who have rendered distinguished service to the association, upon approval of the Board of Directors, may be granted Life Honorary Membership at no cost..

D. Life Membership:

Those persons eligible for Regular Membership or Associate Membership are eligible for Life Membership or Associate Life Membership upon payment of Life Membership dues.

E. Dues:

1. Yearly dues for Regular and Associate members are $5.00 per year.

2. Life membership and Associate Life membership dues are $50.00.
