sergeant. Maj. of the Marine Corps Troy E. Black sponsored the 2022 Combatant Development Summit for Mental and Physical Health, Recruitment and Retention, and Transition Readiness at Warner Hall at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia , from April 26 to 29.
The purpose of the Warfighter Development Summit is to gather feedback through shared experiences, collect data, and develop an in-depth understanding of current issues affecting the Navy. The recommendations and solutions provided by the Marines in attendance will help the Marine Corps provide resources to help the Marines and their commands maintain a capable and ready force.
Specific topics were chosen by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps for discussion at the summit because of their significant impact on the lives of Marines and their families.
“The Marine Corps has a very specific mission within our Department of Defense. It’s about being most ready when the nation is least ready.” sergeant. Major Troy E. Black, SMMC
“Those who wear the uniform are the United States’ strategic advantage over our adversaries,” said Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Troy E. Black. “Everyone has an airplane, a missile, a computer, but how we invest, train and educate our military, our Marines in particular, is our strategic advantage over any adversary.”
About 20 enlisted Marines from four force-level commands, I Marine Expeditionary Force, II Marine Expeditionary Force, III Marine Expeditionary Force and the Marine Corps Reserve, attended the summit. The Marines were able to share their knowledge and the data they gathered to present to Sgt. The Black Major. Over the next few days, the Marines will work together to develop and finalize their summaries to provide the Marine Corps with recommendations and solutions to the Marine Corps.
“Change is continuous in the Marine Corps,” said Sgt. The Black Major. “It doesn’t matter what field, MOS is emerging, what technology you’re in. The Marine Corps has a very specific mission within our Department of Defense. It’s to be most ready when the nation is the less ready.
