Maj. Gen. Jason Q. Bohm relinquished command of Marine Corps Recruiting Command to Maj. Gen. William J. Bowers during the change of command ceremony at Warner Hall on July 21.
Bohm commanded the MCRC from July 12, 2020 to July 21, 2022. During his tenure, he led the MCRC through one of the most challenging recruiting environments amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“What a great team, and I was lucky to be part of it,” Bohm said, addressing the ceremony attendees. “The MCRC mission is an ‘all forces’ mission that impacts us all and asks us all to accomplish it.”
While Bohm was in command, the MCRC accessed 3,393 officers in the active and reserve components, 537 enlisted Marines were commissioned non-commissioned officers, and 67,969 men and women were sent for recruit training. The command has passed annual membership missions and exceeded DoD quality standards.
In recognition of their accomplishments, Marines, Sailors and civilians within the MCRC were awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation for Mission Success from Exercise 2020 to 2021.

Bowers comes to the MCRC after serving more than 32 years in the Marine Corps. He has extensive recruiting experience serving as Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Lansing, Michigan for three years and as Commanding Officer of Sixth Marine Corps District, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC before assuming command of MCRC, Bowers served as the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan.

Bowers’ personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (with gold star), Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal and others rewards.
Bohm will serve as Inspector General of the Marine Corps, promoting Marine combat readiness, institutional integrity, efficiency, discipline, and credibility through inspections, assessments, investigations, impartial and independent investigations, teaching and training.
