Hope on Horseback raises money for therapy horses with bingo fundraiser
Hope on Horseback raises funds to take care of their therapy horses.
175 people showed up to play horse bingo after finding out that due to last year’s pandemic, the organization needed more funds to cover some costs.
“Absolutely play bingo, why not participate, participate, it’s fun. All the volunteers from all the sessions are here, ”said Carly Briganan, Miss USA, Ms. Pittsburgh, PA.
Volunteers like Carly Briganan play bingo to provide money for therapy horses at Hope on Horseback.
“We have programs for children and adults with special needs. We have cancer survivors who come to our program as well as victims of crime and abuse and veterans, ”said Brenda Borgia, Volunteer Coordinator for Hope on Horseback.
Last year the pandemic ended a few events which is why they created this new bingo fundraiser.
“Last year we found out that even though we don’t have lessons, these horses need to be fed and cared for. So we try to start as an endowment so that we can keep the funding and keep it there for the horses, ”said Betty Rositer, Executive Director of the Therapeutic Riding Equestrian Center.
Some of the bingo prizes include a 65-inch television, gift cards, and money from charity participation.
“So we’re hoping to raise around $ 8,000 or so once that’s all said and done,” said Rositer.
Profits will go towards veterinary bills and other care for the horses as well as purses for riders.
The next fundraiser will take place on Tuesday July 27.
