Jacob Smith Obituary (2021) – West Hanover Twp., PA
Jacob Adam Smith, 37, of Harrisburg, walked into the glory of God on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at his home. Jake was born in Danville and was the son of Terry R. and Martha R. Smith. He was a member of the Capital Bible Church in Harrisburg. He attended Harrisburg Christian School before acquiring his GED and retired from Giant Food Stores. He will be remembered by many friends and family for his beautiful blue eyes, engaging smile and kind heart. He enjoyed reading, sunny summer days and thunderstorms, exercising, watching movies, history and news programs on television, and he had an unwavering love for our country. He spent much of his time on his phone talking and texting with his many friends and family, visiting them, listening to music, and he was an avid Eagles fan. Jake is now free from the infirmities he suffered from multiple sclerosis and depression, which he ultimately couldn’t overcome, so the Lord, knowing he was too tired, called him home . Understated at the time of his passing, he is now free to walk, dance, play golf and basketball, and swim in the ocean again in paradise with his friends and family who came before him. To paraphrase the great old song, he was color blind but can now see colors he could never have imagined. He never knew how much he was loved and how many lives he had touched in his few short years. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Zachary P. Smith and Alyssa and their children Layla and Sebastian, whom he all loved dearly, and many members of his extended family who will be missed. The funeral will be on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Capital Bible Church, 7900 Capital Drive, Harrisburg. Pastor Bill Haken will officiate. Interment will be in Hershey Cemetery. A Visit will take place on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church, before the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethesda Mission, PO Box 3041, Harrisburg, PA 17105. Arrangements are made by Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc, Harrisburg. Online condolences can be made at www.hooverfuneralhome.com www.pennlive.com/obits
