My name is Alex Goff and I’m running in the Assembly District 25 Democratic primary. After graduating from high school, I made a decision that changed the trajectory of my life: I joined the United States Marines. I am a proud veteran of the Marine Corps and honored to have served this great country for eight years completing a tour of duty in Iraq before being honorably discharged in 2012. It was during my service that I resumed the traits I have incorporated into my daily life: leadership, honor, courage — and above all, a commitment to public service.
It was because of my commitment to public service that I became involved with various organizations in Northern Nevada. Currently, I am Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights because I believe in the protection and promotion of our fundamental rights and civil liberties. I’m involved in organized labor because I believe in policies that stand up for working families in Nevada, not just the privileged few. I am a proud shop steward and enjoy working with the company, listening to my colleagues and providing a way to collaborate on ideas and concerns.
If elected to the Nevada State Assembly, I promise to work to solve the problems within our communities by improving our public schools, expanding access to affordable health care, and working hard to protect our fundamental rights, including a woman’s right to choose. Most importantly, if elected, I promise to listen to the needs of our community and work to resolve these issues in the Nevada State Legislature. I know these traits that I have incorporated into my daily life will be an asset in this new role, and I look forward to continuing to serve our community as a dedicated public servant.
