Marine Corps League Student of the Month for September – Canon City Daily Record

Cadet Landen Gutormson has been named the Marine Corps League Student of the Month for September.

Landen is the son of Robert and Renee Gutormson and is the brother of Luke, Rylee, Jake and Masen.

He is currently a senior at Canon City High School

Landen’s school activities and clubs include JROTC Bravo Company and Raider Commander for one year, Color Guard Team for three years, and Armed Exhibition Team for three years.

Landen’s sports include varsity cross country for three years and the varsity Raider team for three years.

His honors and awards include the Let-6 Superior Cadet Medal, Association of Special Forces Medal, American Veterans Medal (AMVETS), and Veterans of Foreign Wars Medal (VFW).

Landen’s community involvement includes 3½ years of volunteering through JROTC and his hobbies include hiking and ATV riding.

Landen says of his future, “My plan is to enlist in the US Army and become a CAV scout.”

Nature’s Educators 2022 Birds of Prey Soiree Fundraiser

The Birds of Prey Soiree fundraiser will take place October 29 from 1-8 p.m. at 4498 Bear Paw Drive, Florence. This family event is going to be awesome. Live music, food truck, educational animal experiences, Nature After Dark Experience, costume contest, silent auction and more. All proceeds from this event will be used to help care for all the amazing animals and build the new nature center facilities. Come to this free event and learn about the location of Fremont County’s most unique nonprofit organization.
