The Marine Corps selected Northrop Grumman Corporation to provide the Next Generation Handheld Targeting System (NGHTS), noting that the targeting device offers unparalleled accuracy and operational capabilities in a non-GPS environment.
“NGHTS will significantly improve Marines’ ability to identify ground targets under a wide range of conditions,” said Bob Gough, vice president, navigation, targeting and survivability, Northrop Grumman. “Connected to military networks, NGHTS can provide superior situational awareness and precise coordinates for the delivery of effects beyond line of sight.”
NGHTS has the ability to perform rapid target acquisition, laser terminal guidance, and laser dot imaging functions. The technology’s high-definition infrared sensors provide precision and grid capability over extended ranges.
NGHTS also offers a high-definition color display and day/night celestial compasses, according to Northrop Grumman, noting that the company provides customers with the capabilities needed to connect, advance and protect the nation and its allies.
