BEVERLY, MA — The Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program has found a year-round home in Beverly.
The Beverly Veterans Services drop-off site – the first year-round collection location in Essex or Middlesex County – opened on Friday at 93 Herrick Street in what veterans services officer David Perinchief of Beverly, and Navy Staff Sergeant Marco Antonio Gonzalez hope to be a growing connection between the city and the charitable arm of the military.
“This is a really big step in establishing our partnership with Beverly,” Gonzalez told Patch. “It will help us show our involvement in the community and that the Marines do the right thing for the community over three or four months (before Christmas) each year.”
Gonzalez said future community efforts could include Beverly’s involvement in her extensive book program for libraries and local boys and girls clubs.
“We’re really looking forward to developing this,” Gonzalez said. “We hope this will be a stepping stone to help us lock in a second year-round drop-off location in the region.
“We look forward to continuing to build not only our impact in the Beverly area, but across Essex County and Middlesex as well.”
