Specialty MGA Optio Group has appointed Angus Bailey to lead its expansion in the marine specialties market.
Focusing initially on maritime warfare and kidnapping and ransom (K&R) risks, Bailey will be responsible for the development of Optio’s new marine specialty proposition.
Previously, he managed Seacurus, a trading name of Castel Underwriting Agencies Ltd, where he offered specialized solutions and coverage for the maritime market.
This included a combo facility for Hull War & Kidnap & Ransom as well as cover for Sailor Abandonment.
Previously, Bailey was an underwriter at Barbican, specializing in K&R, hull warfare and sailor abandonment.
In his new role, Bailey will be based in London and will report to Paul Western, the group’s director of underwriting.
Western said, “I am extremely pleased to welcome Angus to Optio, whose appointment further builds on our specialty market offering and is indicative of the wealth of opportunities we see in this area,” said Western.
“Angus is an established and well-regarded underwriter with impressive experience in marine specialties. His experience in delivering innovative solutions to niche risks, coupled with his use of technology to provide clients with fast, effective and accessible protection, makes him an ideal addition to our ever-expanding team.
