Harwood’s massive play turning into a morning tragedy, but using a few unnamed League casualties in the way, leaves his strategy a big dud; Alfred’s father, meanwhile, using his volatile cake for an emergency program, is far more powerful than the military invasion.
He gets the buildup during Pennyworth’s back half quite insignificant, so strengthening the queen would be your chess move to silence the blow.
The cake in the end levels the playing field, wiping out most, but not all, of the major political players. But with all of the Queen’s calls putting an end to this coup, it’s hard not to believe that her survival is basically all that is needed for the series.
