Representative Ellzey Receives Applications for Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program | Education
State Representative Jake Ellzey is now accepting applications for the Texas Armed Services Fellowship.
The program was created in 2009 to help promising students across the state who engage in education and service. He encourages young leaders to participate in the Texas State Guard, the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the United States Coast Guard and the United States Merchant Navy or to become commissioned officers in the United States armed services.
Each year, the governor and lieutenant governor can each nominate two students, and each state senator and state representative can nominate one student to receive an initial conditional scholarship.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to nominate a deserving student for the Texas Armed Service Program scholarship,” said Ellzey. “I greatly appreciate their commitment to education and their desire to serve in the US military. I have been honored to serve this great nation in the United States Navy for 20 years and am delighted to support them as they embark on a rewarding military career. “
The scholarship provides recipients with up to $ 10,000 per academic year for up to four years for their undergraduate studies if they are enrolled in a graduate reserve officer training program or other graduate program. commissioning of undergraduate officers certified by the institution.
